I use this to save money on laundry soap as well as our family has a lot of different soap allergies as well. Using this soap we have had no problems at all with allergies and it cleans as well as the store bought laundry soaps. If you have allergies to certain laundry soaps, I would suggest using which ever bar soap you use to shower with that doesn't break you out and use this in your laundry soap.
I make my own laundry soap! Here’s the recipe:
1 bar bath soap
1 cup washing soda
1 cup baking soda
1 cup 20 Mule Team Borax
1 5 gallon bucket
NOTE: Now, a lot of people grate down their soap, I use it whole and just let it melt down. It has the same affect on the laundry soap, it just takes a little longer to dissolve then the grated soap. Since we have 7 people in our family I double the recipe for our family.
Grate the soap and put it in a sauce pan. Add 6 cups water and heat it until the soap melts. Add the washing soda and the borax and stir until it is dissolved. Remove from heat. Pour 4 cups hot water into the bucket. Now add your soap mixture and stir. Now add 1 gallon plus 6 cups of water and stir. Let the soap sit for about 24 hours and it will gel. You use 1/2 cup to 1 cup per load.
You can also add scents to the soap as well if you would like by using fragrance scents found at Micheals or Hobby Lobby in their soap and candle making aisle to add a scent to make it more like store bought laundry soap. I can make a months worth of laundry soap in a few hours for our family and I use the store laundry containers to store it in so that my little one doesn't make a mess with having the soap in a bucket.
